The Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Unions (ZCTU) is saddened by the death of 43 people who perished on Wednesday along Harare to Chirundu Highway when a King Lions bus veered off the road and crushed into a tree.
The death of the 43 people has left a huge hole in many families as some of them were breadwinners as cross boarder traders who were working hard to fend for their families. The survivors of this horrific accident will require extensive systematic counseling for them to get over this traumatic experience.
Labour urges drivers to be extra careful on the roads and stick to laid down speed limits to avoid such unnecessary loss of lives. There is also need for the government to make sure that our roads are up to standard as they are also a major cause of accidents.
The ZCTU, on behalf of the workers of Zimbabwe, offers its sincere condolences to the families of the deceased and Zimbabweans at large and wish a speedy recovery to those who survived the crash.
